Dear Students, Teachers, Parents and Caregivers;
On behalf of the Browns Valley Family Club (BVFC), welcome to the 2026/2027 school year! I’m very excited to be the returning President of our school’s parent teacher organization.
My husband David and I have two boys, Theo entering 5th grade and Rowan entering 3rd grade. As with most of you, we are a busy family! Theo is an avid BMX racer and LEGO builder. Rowan is passionate about reading, art and animals, helping to care for our Bernedoodle Luna, our two cats Piper and Crouton, a small flock of chickens and Fluffy the box turtle. I work as a personal chef, gardener and assistant. David is a Supervisor with Napa Parks & Recreation.
I am excited to be entering my second year as the BVFC President. Last year I learned a lot about the role and our ever-developing parent organization. I got to better know seasoned family club members and expand chair positions, and was fortunate to meet new parents who became valued volunteers themselves. I had the opportunity to represent our school at District meetings and worked closely with NVUSD leadership as an advocate for School Connected Organizations.
I look forward to the upcoming school year with our new Principal, Mr. Holding. I’m confident his leadership and vision will align with BVFC’s goals and have found his early support and communication encouraging for the success of Browns Valley School.
My goals are to promote inclusivity and mutual respect, to remain open to new ideas and diverse opinions, to welcome everyone and encourage cooperation, and to make the Browns Valley School experience more rewarding for all of us.
The BVFC is a non-profit organization with the mission to enrich the academic and social experience of every student at the school. Through generous sponsorships, donations, fundraisers and events, we raise funds to support school needs and activities: classroom supplies, field trips, assemblies, music programs, STEAM, and many other enrichment programs.
The organization is run entirely by volunteers. We are entering the year with a fabulous team of board members and committee chairs. We encourage you to join us and help our school community however you can. There are so many ways to be an active supporter of Browns Valley School. Attend our meetings or reach out to share your ideas and talents to connect and work with other members. Participate in the many events and activities we host each year. Contribute your time or become a school sponsor.
Our first get-together of the year is a Back to School Picnic at Fuller Park on Monday, August 10th from 4-7PM. It will be an opportunity to reconnect with friends, meet Mr. Holding, and learn about the BVFC.
Following morning drop-off on the first day of school BVFC hosts Coffee and Pastries in the Park for parents, across the street from school at Buhman Park. This is a special morning to celebrate back to school, reconnect and get to know new parents.
We welcome you to join our General Session on Tuesday, August 25th where collectively we introduce the board, committee chairs and approve the 26/27 budget. It is a great opportunity to learn all about what the BVFC does for our students and staff and how you can get involved. This evening will also feature a presentation from Principal Holding with a question and answer forum. The evening will start at 6PM with a reception, then the meeting and presentation at 6:30PM, followed by more time to ask questions individually of Mr. Holding and the BVFC members.
Starting in September, our regular monthly BVFC community meetings are on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30PM at the school. All are invited to attend. Yes, there will be snacks.
We will send Parent Square messages prior to the meetings to confirm dates, times, locations and agenda topics. You may submit requests, comments or questions to BVFamilyClub@gmail.com
We have some great events already in the works! Don’t miss STEAM Night on Thursday, August 20th from 5:30PM-7:30PM featuring interactive activities for elementary and middle school students from esteemed science institutions and local clubs, plus free pizza! We have our Golf Tournament on September 14th and a Family Game Night later in the month. Jog a Thon will be in October and the Auction Gala in April (this year at the new location of CIA at Copia!). These are just a few of the many events hosted by the BVFC to look forward to this coming school year!
Now on to the work and fun to be had,
Brook Youdell
Browns Valley Family Club President
